Happy Founding Day!

Well, yeah, in the USA in 2026, it’s Independence Day. But in the 200th (or so) Century, it’s Founding Day for the Milky Way Star Empire.  And Alice has to wear a special dress for her main public appearance that day, so…

Stay safe and hydrated this 250th Independence Day!

At LibertyCon 38!

Here we are in lovely downtown Chattanooga, getting ready to go to breakfast and then go register at the convention venue.

I’m only on one panel this year…I need to talk to Rich about that. Anyway, it’s the “Prepping for the Apocalypse – HAM Radio” panel at 9PM tomorrow night (Saturday), in M – Plaza Ballroom C.

And right after that, at 10PM, I share a reading slot with Gini Koch in CC – Meeting Room 2.

I do have Authors Alley tables three times:

Friday: 6PM – 8PM
Saturday: 1PM – 3PM
Sunday: 11AM – 1PM

If you’re at the con, please, come by and chat! I’ll be the old bald guy wearing a politically-incorrect T-shirt under an open Aloha shirt. This is the only way you’ll get me into the Spirit of Aloha. (IYKYK).

I’m The BBESP Vol. 2 is chugging along

This is just a progress report, no new book yet.

The second volume of I’m The Beautiful But Evil Space Princess Who Rules A Galactic Empire, But Really Wants To Leave People Ruthlessly Alone! (or I’m The BBESP for short) is really chugging along; 7 chapters of a projected 12 are complete and the action…well…I don’t really write action, but the intrigue is definitely building, the Mages whom Alice and crew run into are definitely weird, and it seems like a lot of people are coming for the weird title but sticking around for the libertarian space regency romance.  (If I am to believe the reviews and the things people are telling me in private.)

Seriously hoping this one will be done before Christmas, and then the third (which will possibly be the last, or definitely will be before I go back to working on The Lion And The Logic) will come out sometime in February.  We’ll see.  Author is not responsible for sticking to timetables mapped out in advance…

OBTW, if you have read the first book…please go back and give it a star review on Amazon.  I’d greatly appreciate it and it does help with the completely-screwed Amazon algorithm.  Thanks!

Oh, and the cover for Volume 2 will look like this.

So there’s this site/service called Suno…

OK, so there’s a song, a church hymn more or less, in Chapter 2 of The Lion and the Darkness, right?  (Chapter 2 of the first half of the book, “The Martyr of Sardristra”.)

And there’s this new AI songwriting service called Suno.

And I might have fed the lyrics to it.

This can be blamed on Sarah Hoyt, who’s using Suno to do all kinds of songs for her new series (for which see below).

This sort of thing is bullshit.

This site needs to be nuked from orbit.

As an aside, it was my pleasure to share a reading slot with Amy DuBoff at LibertyCon, a week ago last Saturday. She’s a very pleasant person (her husband is, too!) and from what she read of her work at that time, she seems to be an excellent writer. She doesn’t deserve this sort of treatment.

All you indies out there, be warned off The Book Boost Architect site.
