The Great Mage of the South, Mitsuko.

The Great Mage of the South is one of the Great Mages of Antiquity. She is an elf named Mitsuko, and from time to time she is a professor at the University of Magic at Mahoumachi. She hides her ears under a cloak most of the time, pretending to be a human mage. She is probably over 4,000 years old but doesn't remember the exact number; although she has a certificate with her birthdate on it "somewhere" in her tower. She sealed an agreement between the Church of the Blessed Goddess Eireala and the Demon Lord about 2,500 years ago that is supposed to keep the Demon Lord on the east side of the Eastern Range. Key words, "supposed to".

Her magical strengths are in darker aspects of magic – offensive and defensive spells, like her [Magic Pulse] spell she tried to use on Ariela/Eireala when she appeared in her tower.

Mitsuko's tower is located about a hundred and twenty-five miles (as the crow flies) south of Eireala-to, the capital city of the Holy Empire. She tends to be quite un-neighborly when in residence at the tower, and has been said to be as like to blast you with a destructive spell as to invite you in for tea and biscuits. She prefers advance notice for visitors, and she has been pestered many times by girls cosplaying the Goddess Eireala.

She met Kosho many years ago while passing through his village, and she helped him destroy a red dragon that was raiding the village along with a dozen or so blue and green dragons. Apparently she remembered his strength and courage, and took him along on an inspection trip to see if the Demon Lord was still sealed by the old agreement, about 20 years before Eireala/Ariela appears on the scene.

About 40 years ago, she had a wild affair with a young Imperial Army soldier named Hayate, who had been sent from Eireala-to with instructions to bring back a certain item she had been working on for the Emperor.

She is a bit lazy, a bit zaftig, and a serious party girl when she decides to be. Also can be truly kind and generous if approached properly.
