Xzl5!vt (Planet)

Xzl5!vt is the third planet of the Vit system (WASP-110 in Earth catalogs).

Xzl5!vt is 0.9 AU from its primary, which is ~0.131 AU farther out than the equivalent Earth orbit from that star (0.769 AU).

The average temperature would normally be somewhat lower than Earth, but there’s a bit of a greenhouse effect to compensate for that, and the average temperature is about the same.

The planet suffers long and harsh ice ages, even so, and (similar to Earth), the last one, which technically ended about 10,000 years ago, is still receding as the planet warms up.

The Xzl5!vt (or Shizzle) people are reptilian in appearance, but give live birth. These lizard folks’ non-sentient forebears had to evolve warm-blooded bodies and live birth to survive (with the notable exception of the dragons, which were able to easily migrate to the equatorial areas).

The planetary rotation period is approximately 25 Earth hours, making the year 319.09 Xzl!5vt days long. This is equivalent to 332.388 Earth days.

Xzl!5vt masses 1.1 Earths but has a radius of 1.05 x Earth, so the gravity is fractionally lower (0.9977G at average surface).

(Were it smaller than Earth, e.g., 0.95 x Earth, the gravity would actually be higher, e.g., 1.219G at average surface.)

About as close as a human can get to properly pronouncing the name of the people and planet is "Shi-zìl-fivèhgbëngvæt":

Wolff's comm buzzed. He grabbed it, activated the text interface, and read.

"Who told us about the . . . the . . . fuck, I can't pronounce it. Shi-zìl-fivèhgbëngvæt? That's not even close; I'd break teeth, too, trying to frame those harmonics. Maybe Shizzle? Who told us about the Shizzle? Bob told us about the Shizzle, you half-sentient pile of quantum circuits. What the fuck is going on here? They're supposed to be in a completely different trunk line!"

Bzzzt.

"The hell . . . what do you mean, we're interconnected now?" Wolff looked at von Barronov. "How do you connect two trunk lines?"

Von Barronov shrugged. "Beats me. I just work for a living, like you say."
